Studio Marketing in Nigeria

A studio’s marketing is a 20-second clip of a vocal take, raw then mixed, with the rate in the caption. An artist watches it at 11:38pm, and the whole thing is decided by what happens at 11:40. The reel did its job. The question is whether anyone answered.

The channels, honestly

Where the artists are actually lost

Not in the channel. After it.

A reel pulls forty DMs over a weekend. Nine get answered on Monday morning. Four of those book. The other thirty-one recorded somewhere else on Saturday night, in the burst, because someone replied. Nothing about the reel was wrong. The leak was between the DM and the reply.

This is why “post more” is usually the wrong fix for a Nigerian studio. The reels are already producing DMs. The cheaper fix is to stop losing them: an instant reply with the rate and a booking link, a deposit that confirms the slot, one owner per conversation, and a source on every enquiry so you know which clip paid.

The order that works

  1. Fix the reply. Every DM, comment and message gets the rate and the link in seconds. Before posting another reel.
  2. Put the rate in the caption. Artists who can afford it DM. Artists who cannot, do not, and that is fine.
  3. Tag the source. Reel, sound, referrer, StudioLib, Google, event. From the first message.
  4. Ask for the review after every delivery, automatically.
  5. Work the producers. Priority, partner rate, tracked referrals.
  6. Capture the room. Everyone who comes to an event or a session is a contact for the next one.
  7. Then make more of what produced sessions, not likes.

How GrowUp Business fits

GrowUp Business does not shoot your reels or make your sound. It catches everything they produce and tells you which one paid. Every DM, comment, message and call lands in one inbox with its source and gets an instant reply with rates and a booking link. A review request goes out after every delivery. Producers’ referrals are tracked so they are thanked. Everyone who attends an event is saved. Paid sessions per source are on the dashboard at month end.

If the leak between the DM and the booking is the real problem, the enquiries page shows exactly how to close it. For the whole business, read the studio software page.

Common questions

Where do Nigerian artists find a studio?

Instagram first: session reels, before and after clips, artists posting from the room. Then a friend who recorded there. Then StudioLib and Google for artists searching in a new city. Producers get found on TikTok by a sound. Nobody knows their own mix until every enquiry carries its source, and most studios are guessing.

What content actually brings artists in?

The room in use. A 20-second clip of a vocal take with the raw and the mixed version. The engineer's hands on the console. An artist walking out happy. Rates in the caption. The content that does not work is gear photos with no sound and no people.

Should a studio be on StudioLib?

Yes, it is free and it is where artists compare studios in a new city. Keep the profile current with rates and photos. Then make sure the enquiry it produces gets a reply in seconds, because the artist is comparing three studios from the same search.

Do Google reviews matter for a studio?

More than most studios think. An artist searching 'recording studio in Abuja' picks from reviews and photos. A review request after every delivery builds that over a year. The studio with 60 recent reviews wins the artist who has never been to either room.

How do I turn producers into a channel?

A producer who calls your room home brings his artists. Give him priority booking, a partner rate, and track what he brings so he is thanked in hours. One producer is ten artists a year. Most studios treat him as a client instead of a channel.

How do I know which reel produced a paid session?

Every enquiry carries its source from the first DM: which reel, which sound, which referrer, StudioLib, Google. At month end you see enquiries, bookings and paid sessions per source. Then you make more of the content that produced sessions, not the content that produced likes.
