1. Who this is about
This explains what we do with personal information at GrowUp Business, registered in Nigeria under RC 8246382 and operating from Army Estate, Kubwa, Abuja. For anything on this page, write to hello@growupbusiness.com.
There are two different groups of people here, and they are treated differently:
- Our clients. Business owners who buy from us. We decide how their information is used, so we are responsible for it.
- Our clients' customers. The people who message a business that runs on GrowUp Business. Their information sits inside the system but it belongs to our client. We only handle it on that client's instructions.
2. What we collect from clients and prospects
- Your name, business name, email address and phone number.
- What you tell us about your business: what you sell, what kind of business it is, roughly how many people work with you, where your enquiries reach you, your website and social pages, and what you want fixed first.
- Your booking details and whether you attended.
- Your messages with us, across email, SMS, WhatsApp and website chat.
- Payment records. We do not see or store your card details. Payments are handled by Paystack and we receive only confirmation and a reference.
- Basic website information such as pages visited and rough location.
3. Why we use it
- To deliver what you bought. This is the main reason.
- To reach you about your booking, your account and your work with us.
- To review your business before an Audit session, which is part of what the Audit is.
- To take payment and keep proper records.
- To improve what we offer.
- To meet legal and tax obligations.
We rely on the fact that you asked us to provide a service, on your consent where we ask for it, and on our legitimate interest in running the business.
4. Marketing
If you give us your details we may send you things about GrowUp Business. Every message has a way out and it works. Reply STOP to a text or WhatsApp message, use the unsubscribe link in an email, or just tell us.
Opting out of marketing does not stop the messages you need, such as your booking confirmation, your reminders or a receipt.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the providers we need to run the service:
- Our payment provider, Paystack, to take payment.
- Our messaging and email providers, to deliver messages.
- Our video meeting provider, when we meet you on a call.
- Our hosting and business system providers, which is where your records live.
- Professional advisers and the authorities, where the law requires it.
Each of these gets only what it needs to do its job.
6. Where it is kept
Some of the providers above hold data outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we rely on their own protections and on their contractual commitments to keep it safe, and we only use providers who offer them.
7. How long we keep it
- Client records: for as long as you are a client, then 7 years for tax and legal reasons.
- Enquiries that never became clients: 24 months, then deleted.
- Messages: 24 months.
- Anything you ask us to delete: deleted, unless the law says we must keep it.
8. Your rights
Under Nigerian data protection law you can:
- Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
- Have mistakes corrected.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Object to how we use it, including marketing.
- Withdraw consent you gave earlier.
Write to hello@growupbusiness.com and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you and we will not make it difficult.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Data inside a client's account
If you are reading this because a business you deal with runs on GrowUp Business, then your information belongs to that business, not to us. We hold it for them.
In legal terms, that business is the data controller and we are the data processor. They decide what is collected and why. We act on their instructions, and we do not use their customers' information for our own purposes.
Our clients confirm to us that they have the right to hold the contacts they bring into the system, and that they will honour anyone who asks to be left alone.
Ask them directly to see, correct or delete it. If you come to us instead, we will pass your request to them and tell you we have done so.
10. Keeping it safe
Access to client accounts is restricted to people who need it. Credentials are held securely and are never shared in messages or documents. Payment card details never touch our systems.
No system is perfect. If something happens that puts your information at real risk, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
11. Children
GrowUp Business is sold to businesses. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it.
12. Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies to keep it working and to understand which pages are useful. Some are set by advertising and analytics tools we use, including the Meta pixel and Google Analytics, which measure whether our ads are reaching the right people.
You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work, and the only thing you lose is our ability to measure it.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed. If a change matters to you, we will tell you rather than rely on you noticing.
